14. – 15. & 16. Juli 2018 | 19:00 Uhr | Uferstudio 4
This Saturday at 7:00 pm, André Uerba invites us to discover his last art installation for the first time in Germany. Within the walls of the studio, the Portuguese artist plunges us into a pitch black, that only the burning threads, lit by André himself and performers, will break.
Where do the firelights lead us ? How does the darkness affect our senses ?
„The burning of the threads addresses the visitors’ mood and perception, evoking dreams, perhaps fears (that come along with the dark space), but an experience of calmness and of slowing down is the main focus of this work. This calmness feeling may drive the viewers perhaps into a more grounded state, induced by the low light and the low pace – affirming a convergence between life and art. The visitors are called to contemplate the “enlightenment” of the space, a choreography of light and bodies.“
No other source of light, just us – the Universe – together.
Like an introduction to an alternate universe, »Burn Time« is an ephemeral world, whose representations differ from one another ; each one offering us a unique intrinsic journey.
„According to the specificity of each Venue, a new composition will be designed. The characteristics of the space modify the way the sculptures are installed – each version becoming a new chapter in the development of this work – but also how they will be burned. The performance/installation will be continuously developed in contexts as diverse as monumental industrial architectonic spaces, historical buildings, warehouses, large galleries, museums or theater spaces.“
André Uerba’s performance is held within the framework of Open Spaces / Sommer Tanz 2018 Festival.
